The Hunger Games

Ok, I already told you how I say "This book is my favorite!" Well, I'm saying it again! The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins. I have read this book a billion times and loved it every time! I just learned the movie is coming out next year! In 222 days to be exact! I can't even voice how excited I am!

I just re-read book 1 and am on book 2 now, Catching Fire. These books are awesome and I can't wait to see the movie!

If you haven't read these books you ABSOLUTELY need to! They were AMAZING! I absolutely loved them and you need to read them before you see the movie!

Big Shoes to Fill

Our church, Albuquerque's First Baptist Church, has movie nights in the park every once in a while. Last Friday we watched Despicable Me! I must say, I love this movie! The story line is great, a good ending, and who doesn't love the minions?

We had lots of fun, but I didn't take any pictures! =( Sorry about that. But I recommend this movie! If I loved it, you will love it!

I often find Addi in my room rummaging through my drawers trying to find my I-Pad, I-Pod, Computer, Headphones, Camera, and basically anything expensive. So when I saw her in my closet I wondered what she was doing, here is what I found.

She was trying to my shoes! Ha, it looks like she has BIG shoes to fill! =)

BOW

I'm guessing all of you are wondering what BOW means. I'll start with myself, I LOVE reading, it's something I could do all day if I had a good book. I read 1 to 2 books a week, yes, I am crazy.I accept the fate of being an avid reader when I was a little girl. It is a blessing and a curse. A blessing because reading is easy and I don't find it a burden at school. A curse because if I get a good book, I don't stop reading until it, or the series is over. You can ask my mom about that, I sit on the couch in out living room for hours with my book, an Afghan, and a water bottle. Yes, hours at a time I just sit and read. Its wonderful!

So anyway, BOW stands for Book Of the Week. I will give you an update on my favorite books and the books I just finished. Nerdy, I know, but I want to remember all my favorites from when I was a teen!

So the book I read this week was "These Is My Words" by Nancy E. Turner. I am a helpless romantic when it comes to books. Anything with a good love story is a good book! ha

This book is a Diary of Sarah Prine. She and her family are moving from Arizona to New Mexico. It takes course between 1881-1901. She falls in love, has adventures, and goes through the thick and thin of life with her family! I recommend this book to anyone! I loved it!

Now for a book I have read a ton of times and it has never gotten old! Uglies by Scott Westerfeld.

I first read this book in fourth grade with my grandma and it was awesome the first time, better the second, and best the third. So after that I went and bought the book along with the next two in the trilogy. I recommend this book to any and every one! It is my favorite book of all time (I say that a lot)

So there is the BOW of the week! haha! Read these books and tell me what you think! They are awesome!

Pizza-Rolls! The Lunch of Champions (and doofs like my mom and I)

Yesterday I was rummaging around in our pantry, trying to decide on something that would make the growling in my stomach surrender. This wonderful idea donned on me... Pizza-Rolls! Obviously its the lunch of champions if its in my freezer! So cut open the bag and placed 12 little Bites on a pizza tray. (they were for my mom too! I'm not a complete pig!) Little did I know the painful ending that was to come.

So eight minutes later the aroma of not-so-fresh pizza reached my nose, the battle going on in my stomach raging! I quickly grabbed the oven mitt and pulled my delicious Rolls out of the oven. I had 6 on my plate and 6 on my moms and we ate! But my ever so silly mom ate her first Pizza-Roll to quickly, and the back of the Roll burst, allowing the boiling pizza filling to spill out onto her nicely manicured fingers!

O yes ladies and gentlemen, it was this hot! (according to her) So what else could I do but fall out of my chair laughing at my mom as she was cradling her hand.
"You doof!" I said "You should wait for them to cool off!" I said this in between spurts of laughter!

Little did I know what was to come...

So today I had the same urge to have the lunch of champions, Pizza-Rolls! I went through the same schedule as the day before! 6 for me, 6 for my mom. I hurried them over to the table, aching with longing to stuff one into my "Pizza-Roll" hole!

Apparently my longing got the better of me because as I brought one up to my mouth the back of it opened its doors and the "lava" pizza sauce came spilling over onto my helpless hand. With my drink in one hand and no napkin in sight I spilled the Cola and sprinted to the sink to try to relieve the pain. Then my not so loving mother was the one on the floor laughing.

So in conclusion, Pizza-Rolls are the lunch of champions, and the doofusses of Albuquerque, me and my mom!

Running, Hiking, but No Biking!

So I decided that it would be fun to get some exercise and go running. Around here you have to go running early in the morning, to me early in around six am., right? Well, not according to most people. According to Joel, four-thirty am. is about the right time to get up. Alright, I can do that, maybe. I think the only reason I was fully awake was because my alarm clock started blaring some un-interpretable rap song and I couldn't figure out how to turn it off. Afraid that Addi would wake up, I made a mad dash for the light switch, jamming my fingers into the door before i was successful in reaching my destination. By the time I made it back to the alarm clock, the song was over and a nice country song was playing, what station plays rap then country?!

In the end I managed to unplug my alarm clock, then I managed to reset the time and to see that it was really four-fifteen. Yes, not only can I not turn it off, but I can't set it either. Yep! I'm that awesome! So then I got ready, cleaned my room, made my bed, and Joel still wasn't up. Apparently he said four-fifty, which to a guy means you can still get up at five and be ready by five-o-three. Not cool.

Then we finally left. I did good the first mile, but I haven't ran in a while, so by mile two I was dead! haha! We ran about two and a half miles. I was tired, but I did it! So proud of myself! Just kidding, I was so un-proud of myself, I ran a 5k in March without training and there were no side effects, then I ran back in Utah. Stopped when we moved to ABQ, now I am TOTALLY out of shape! Way to go Mykell!

Last Saturday we went on a hike in the Sandias! We had lots of fun, Addi liked being in the backpack, Joel got the best workout of us all!

Daddy and Addi ready for some adventure!

 Side View

Here is a freakishly large mushroom growing out of a tree. But I liked this picture because you can see Joel, mom, and Addi in the background!

 We needed a break, haha!

 "Queen" of the Rock!

Then Addi kicked the Queen off the rock and took over! =)

Then it was time for a nap!

Storms and Santa Fe

Lately in good ole' ABQ we have been having some major thunder and lightening storms! These things are crazy, his blitz was particularly blow your mind crazy! I shot this video when it was "far" away too!

This last Saturday my family and I went on a little outing to Santa Fe. We left just before noon and got there right on time for lunch! We ate at this AMAZING restaurant called Tomasitas! Mmmmm, that was good Mexican food!

Then we went and scoped out REI! I love that store! I'm a nerd, i realize that, but i love looking at all their stuff!

We drove to The Plaza, that's where they have all the street vendors that sell Indian jewelery, and that is where the Loretto Chapel is! Apparently, some years ago, this church had no staircase that could lead to the choir loft. One day a mysterious man came to the church, his name was Joseph. He told the congregation that he would build a staircase for them. A few days later he was done, so he left. When the choir went to go to the choir loft they noticed that the staircase had no nails, no support beam, nothing to hold it steady, so cautiously they made their was up, obviously, nothing was wrong. So for many years the choir mounted the enchanted steps, and to this day, the work of Joseph the miraculous carpenter still stands!

Then we just roamed the town. We passed some really cool art museums, but we couldn't go in because of our little munchkin =)

Yes, thank you, this is sideways, anyway, this is me in front of the Loretto Chapel.

Here is the Chapel again!

And again...

Here is St. Francis Church.

This was just awesomeness in itself =)

Here is St Francis Chapel from the outside

Here is the inside

And this is Addi on the car ride home!

Mac-N-Cheese Meltdown

So yesterday my mom had to go to her doctors appointment at noon, so I was left to babysit Addi. Little did I know what lay down the path ahead.

I decided I would try something new to make Addi for lunch, so I made Mac-N-Cheese. Not the microwaveable kind, but the king you put in a pan and cook. I am not a chef, so this was a big deal!

So 20 min. later, I had a HUGE mess, and some yummy looking Mac-N-Cheese! So I put some in a bowl for her, and how could I pass up the gooey, cheesiness that was calling my name? So I got a bowl for myself too! =)

I was so excited because every kid loves Mac-N-Cheese, right? No, the one kid in the universe who hates it was sitting right in front of me.

"NO NO Kell!"

"Kell eats it, Yum, Yum!"

"NO, GROSS!"

So, if anyone wants Mac-N-Cheese, we have some leftovers in our fridge! Ha!
